Mary Pat is a U of A graduate with a Master of Arts in Communication and Technology. She is also a graduate of Queen’s University where she completed her undergraduate degree and took a summer session Executive MBA Program.
Mary Pat is Vice-President, Communications with Alberta Innovates – Technology Futures, where she leads a team to build globally competitive companies right here in Alberta. Previously she was Director, Communications with the City of Edmonton. According to her staff, Mary Pat is an incredible person to work with, Mary Pat is inspiring and talented, she has a fantastic ability to create and motivate a team of communications professionals and help them achieve their full potential. Mary Pat brings creative energy and thoughtful communications insight and research-driven analysis to her award-winning work. Not only does she elevate the communications function of an organization, she will enhance the strategic thinking, alignment and action of an organization through her personal and professional contributions. She is passionate, motivated, energetic, inspiring and a whole lot of fun.
Mary Pat is an Accredited Business Communicator through the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), and has been recognized with a number of distinctions and awards. In 2010 she received two national, Silver Leaf, Awards of Excellence for Strategic Communications Process and Marketing Communications from the IABC for Edmontonstories.ca – a social media marketing program that uses collective storytelling to enhance awareness, attract labour and raise pride in the City of Edmonton.
She is a passionate advocate and active supporter of Chrysalis – an Alberta Society for Citizens with Disabilities. Chrysalis is dedicated to enhancing the potential, possibility and reality of people with disabilities. Mary Pat is currently serving as Board Chair of the Chrysalis Foundation.
